Show Notes

This week’s episode is a chat with Kendall Kroesen-Urban Program Manager & Kara Kaczmarzyk-Membership and Development Manager for Tucson Audubon Society.

They are here to tell us all about the fabulous fourth annual Tucson Bird & Wildlife Festival.

Enjoy workshops, field trips, a nature expo, and other fun events. Some are free and open to the public, even on a drop-in basis.

The Festival headquarters is the River Park Inn (map), which is a stop on the new Sunlink Streetcar.

Southeastern Arizona is a birder’s paradise. In fact, did you know that SE AZ has more species of birds than any other land-locked area of North America of the same size.

Bird-watching is a huge benefit to our economy.  So far they’ve counted a $1.4 Billion economic impact in all of Arizona, with a $300 Million dollar impact in Pima County.

The month of August is one of two peak times, annually, in bird diversity in Southern Arizona. The Festival brings people to Tucson in the low-tourist season to spend money, and support local businesses. And supporting the Festival supports Audubon’s work protecting birds and bird habitat.

Kendall will be speaking Sunday morning, August 17th @ 10:00 about how to make your Tucson yard more bird-friendly and in a sustainable way. His workshop will be called Landscaping for Wildlife.  $5.oo feel for this workshop.
