Authors from Our Place Clubhouse Thursday Afternoon Writers’ Group talk about their work and their lives along with their instructor Sheila Wilensky and psych-social rehabilitation specialist Samantha Bounkeua. A Certain Slant of Light: Emerging from the Shadows of Mental Illness is a compilation of essays and personal narratives that educates readers about the misconceptions of mental illness and brings to light the realities of the authors’ lives. It includes an introduction from mental-heath advocate Suzi Hileman.
On January 17, 2014 from 5-7pm at 66 E. Pennington Our Place Clubhouse holds a meet and greet and book signing. Copies of the book will be available to purchase for $12.95. All proceeds and donations will benefit Our Place Clubhouse.
Our Place Clubhouse is a pysch-social rehabilitation center for adults recovering from serious mental illnesses. The internationally recognized Clubhouse model is a non-clinical program which helps members to gain self-worth, purpose and confidence within the structure of a work ordered day. Members work side by side with staff to complete the daily organizational tasks, engage in meaningful work experience and socialize. Our Place Clubhouse is a project of Coyote TaskForce, a 501-C3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide vocational and pre-vocational services for adults recovering from chronic and persistent mental illness.
